Each of the Four units is made from found/archive ceramics made by the firm of
Cama Deruta. The patterns selected represent traditional Deruta styles and have
been used during the 800 year history of the pottery industry. Pieces from the
1930's, 40's 50's and up to the current production represent and re-present the
ongoing use of the historical vocabulary of the Deruta tradition of the
recycling of images, patterns and forms.
The towers demonstrate a "core sampling" of the history of both the Cama Deruta
works and more broadly the entire area's use and reuse of styles and colors that
reveal their authors through the decorators' hand and the views accumulated
knowledge of these historic patterns.
History is represented and presented through the work of these local craft
persons and the selection made by the artist.
